If Ty says it's big, then trust him - it's BIG!

Tyler's new favorite thing is going down to the apple trees and picking an apple and eating it. I was telling my MIL that he likes doing this and she said something about its either their first or second year they shouldn't eat fresh fruits and veggies due to some disease. Anyone ever hear of this? keep in mind shes like 65 or so and very very hill billy.
I will mention it to the ped tomorrow but I thought I would get your thoughts too. I just cant see it being so. He loves the fresh tomatoes off the vine too. |

Advocate of many things.

That's really a very irrational idea - I mean, ALL fruits and veggies (frozen, canned, jarred, etc) start out as fresh fruits and veggies, so with that theory babies would eat NO fruits or veggies Nope, never heard of that old tale, and it's definitely not true. I would rinse fresh fruits and veggies (or at least bring a damp cloth and wipe them off good) before giving them to him, but otherwise there's nothing wrong with them. Parker loves just about any fresh fruit we put in front of him |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

I agree with Chris. I just talked to a mom the other day that said years ago (like 20-30) there was a big deal about apple juice and that there was something in it that was harmful. she said everyone quit buying apple juice for a while

I feed Liriel fresh fruits and vegies when available. It's the best thing out there. Liriel loved eating rasberries right off the bush.
Apple Juice some times has some thing in it that can be harmful to those with immature or damaged immune systems. But most of the Apple Juice other there now is pasturized, so it's not really an issue anymore. |

I was thinking about this and I wonder if part of this theory might be to due with nitrate poisoning? Some vegetables pick up a lot of them when they are growing and too much of it for babies can cause blue baby syndrome. Some that can kill if not taken care of.
There is also the possiblity that someone had an allergic reaction to some thing and died when she was young. But they didn't realize it was an allergic reaction and labeled it some thing else. |
