Food Strike
OK, he's on a food strike. Will only eat if he can feed himself, and then he throws 1/2 of that over board for the dog
I've tried makeing him his own meal, letting him eat whatever he wanted, but he goes for the same stuff....chicken sticks, green beans, and apples. I can't feed him the same thing over and over again..can I? Everyone is insisting that I feed him the #3's, since he only makes anout 1/2 of the finger food in his mouth, but he eats 2 bites, and then dosen't want any more. Is it a phase? DOes he need Pediasure or something like that? He's living off blueberries, pancakes, chicken sticks, green beans, more blueberries, more green beans, and maybe some apples. I don't know what to do

Re: Food Strike
What he is eating is healthy. Are you still feeding him formula? If so, don't worry about it, just keep offering him other options and make sure he get's enough to eat, even if it's the same food every day. He doesn't need the #3s. That's just an added expense. Especially if he won't eat them.

Re: Food Strike
Keep offering the food...according to research some children have to be offered the same food up to 15 times before they will try/accept it. As long as you are giving plenty of formula he will be fine. If he accepts the #3 and eats it willingly it won't hurt but I don't think it is neccessary either. Babies stomachs are the size of their fists...it doesn't take much to fill them up. At this age babies are still experimenting with food not only the texture and taste but also what happends when you smush it, chew it, spit it out, drop it on the floor, smear it, wipe it in your hair...
It's all part of how they learn, he will let you know if he is not getting enough and is hungry.

Don't worry about it Jess. When Carter feeds himself, half of it is in his lap.

I agree with Suzanne. Kaitlyn wont eat the number 3's....she is being fussy about what she eats...right now all she wants is bananas, pancakes, cherrios, mac and cheese, and sometimes will eat a bit of chicken or pork. I am still nursing her 2-3 times a day and drinking EBM at daycare so I dont really worry. If he is still getting his formula plus the food he will eat enough to make sure he is not hungry. If he gets hungry im sure he will let you know. I noticed Kaitlyn would rather play with the food than eat it now....but she does eat some while she is playing...im sure he is probably just doing the same thing.

We're also going through the same thing. What she eats one day she won't touch the next day
Sounds like Michael is eating pretty good. Lauryn isn't eating near that well. We just keep trying.
