I guess i am luck, but right now I am soooo frustrated. We can't get Catherine to put ANYTHING in her mouth. Occasionally she chews on her burp rag, but that is pretty much it.

How do you "teach" a child to feed themselves?

I would put small chunks of easy to "gum" food in front of her and let her play. Babies instinctively put almost everything in their mouths, she'll get it eventually.

We've been doing that for about a month now. She will sweep them off on to the floor, pick them up and hold it out for us to eat or she just ignores it. I think she just likes being feed.

Rylie has got to be the laziest baby I have ever seen REALLY !! We had the hardest time getting her to attempt feeding herself. I finally got her to do it with puffs (and bitter biscuits). Everyday I would put some on her tray and let her play with them in her hands to get "used" to actually using them and I would also put one in her hand. At first she just looked at them and tossed them. Then I would help her put the one from her hand in her mouth. It was a struggle at first but then she just got it ....now she tries to feed us the puffs
