Okay, I'm totally boggled by this. Parker has suddenly over the last week or so just stopped wanting to eat his baby food. I mean, no matter what kind it is, his favorites or something new, no matter how hungry he should be, he just doesn't seem interested anymore. He turns his head away as soon as the spoon comes near him. Once we get a bite in his mouth sometimes he'll settle down a bit and eat a little, but after a few bites he starts gagging on it.
Cade did that at about a year when we started on 3rd foods ... he just never liked them and we just went straight to regular table foods then. But this seems kinda early for Parker to be doing this. He does seem to want to eat finger foods more, today for lunch I gave him some of those toddler pasta pick-ups and he ate almost the entire container. Then I managed to get him to eat a 2nd foods fruit, but he kept reaching for the spoon. He doesn't seem as interested in his bottles anymore either. I gave him a sippy cup with lunch and he did really well with it (except for hitting it all over the tray and spilling it everywhere )Do you think it's really possible he's ready to go to table foods? He's a good chewer, but he only has like 6 teeth, all in the front. This just seems so early. Cade wasn't completely on table foods until 13 1/2 months or so. I'm worried if I start him on table foods, since the choices are limited until he gets more teeth and starts munching on meats and things, he's not going to get enough calories and vitamins, etc. (Although he is in the 90th percentile for weight already )I'm just not sure where to go from here ![]() |

Ian has NO teeth, and is eating table food - pretty much whatever we are eating. He's had spaghetti, lasagna, chicken, veggies... you name it!
He flat out refuses baby food, in most cases. So, we just make sure all the pieces are really tiny...and he gums them to death. LOL! |

He may be getting more teeth. I have read that some babies don't really eat much during this time. Just keep offering it and he will eat if he is hungry I am sure.
Maddox is still a stinker when it comes to food!!! He gags and chokes on EVERYTHING so I am not much help on introducing the table foods part. I think around this age Brayden was eating with us though. |

Caleb pretty much eats what we eat. He's probably only had about 6 jars of stage one veggies total...we just went with soft table food as soon as he was about to pick up food. He hates anything off of a spoon unless he feeds it to himself (which basically means all over himself because he can't get the spoon to his mouth with food still on it!
) For breakfast he will have things like scrambled eggs, toast, cinnamon rolls, dry cereal, yogurt, cheese, pancakes, etc...all cut small and sometimes soaked in BM to soften them up. Lunch and dinner he eats whatever we eat as long as it is not too spicy and is chopped up small.. ground hambuger, chopped chicken, all veggies cooked soft, bread, noodles, etc. He loves it all! Because I said so, that's why!

Liriel still is mostly BF still - but she prefers to feed herself what ever I give her, She had chicken last week and loved it. I just broke off tiny pieces she coulds swallow from my piece and put them in her mouth. At 8-9 months - baby food is just convenience food IMO.

Thanks girls. I guess we're done with baby food!
Yesterday and today he's been eating what we eat - today I gave him one of Cade's chicken nuggets, cut up, and he ate the whole thing (plus some pasta pick-ups and apple slices ) Tonight he had Chinese with us - rice, chicken, veggies and he absolutely LOVES cream cheese wontons What a weird kid! Well at least we'll start saving $50 a month since we won't be buying all that baby food! |
