Default Sippy Cup

Have you tried it yet and what did you put in it?

I have tried it for Ethan. I got some of those "firsts" cups that are easy for him to pick up. Two huge handles one on each side. Well, he gets how to use it but he really has no interest in it. I have gave him water and diluted apple juice a few times and both the same reaction.

Kaitlyn will only drink out of a sippy. She will no longer use a bottle. We put EBM in it for daycare, I put juice, water, and drinkable yogurt in it too.. she loves it all...Kaitlyn wont use one with handles she only likes the take and toss ones by first years.

My second dd was like that. Well she got the flu really bad right at 8 months old and and and REFUSED a bottle or to nurse after that. Like that was what made her sick. We had to put everything into a sippy cup for her to drink. It did take about 4 weeks and she went back to BFing and I could quite pumping... That was a pain.

Carter just gets water. He hates typical "sippy cups" though. He prefers the straw ones. Go Figure! My friend suggested them when he was refusing the regual sippy cups. She said it is easier for them to sip the straw because they are used to sucking the bottle. It does make it easy at restaurants, we can just order water for him.

Lauryn does ok with the sippy cup. We use the avent ones (green sippy top that fits the bottles too). She actually prefers a regular cup (the bell tumblers by tupperware) and for me to give her sips out of it. She's only had water out of the cup so far.

We have a Gerber one and an Avent one, both w/handles & valves. Claire likes to play w/them, bang them about, etc. but I'm not sure if she can get anything out of them or not (I put water in them). If I take the valve out, she gets water all over the place. I don't think she needs the handles since she can now hold her own bottle so the other day I bought her a Nuby cup. That seems to work, though she chews on the spout a lot and it seems very, very similar to a bottle (not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing). I LOVE that it doesn't have a valve, though. I'm thinking of getting some of the take and toss ones, too.

Sarah has suprised me! She will drink out of any sippy. I have started giving her a serving of juice a day. It seems to help her when she has trouble pooping. I have given her water but she gets choked on it.

We use the Avent training cups with the handles with Ian. Thus far, he's only had water (or pedialyte) in his. He does ok with it...not great, but ok! =)

Christine I thought about getting the ones with the straw for Ethan too. I happen to like them better. We had tons of them but they were all pink and purple and DH made me get rid of them. In fear that his SON might drink out of a pink or purple cup with butterflies, hearts, or says Princess!
