DB's other grandmother passed away early Saturday morning. We knew she was dieing all last week. He did not want to go up to see her, though we had made a point of visiting her over the Memorial Day weekend because DB didn't think she would make it through the summer. So at least we were able to see her and talk to her while she was still doing OK. We normally stayed at this grandma's house when we went up to visit his family.

Now to convince DB to go to his grandmother's funeral on Wednesday. He doesn't want to go because his one aunt will be there and he despises her. I've never met her - only heard bad things about her. His mother is beginning to have similar feelings after having to deal with her for the last couple days. But this is the grandmother who raised him his first 3 years of life. His 2 grandmothers (his other one died 1.5 years ago) pretty much raised him his first 5 years of life or so while his parents went to college. His grandparents were heavily involved in his life while he grew up (all lived in the same small town) and even afterwards. So his grandparents were kind of like 2nd parents to him.
