Some women bake buns......

Sorry I've been such a lousy friend lately ladies
![]() These last few weeks have been a complete nightmare around here! The three little ones came down with a nasty bug and life has pretty much been hell ever since, actually its been ongoing with some kind of illness or another since the whole pink eye fiasco. Rylie was doing fantastic with the potty training up until she got sick, now it seems we are back at square one again. She had a 101 fever all last week, stopped eating, runny nose, coughing up a storm and so on. Luckily she is feeling a lot better compared to how she was, but she still sounds a little congested, hoarse voice, still very little appetite and a lingering cough (although nothing too bad). Peyton is unfortunately not doing quite as good as Rylie but way better than he was! He was battling 102 fever last week along with all the other crappy symptoms. He's still got a terrible runny nose, nasty cough, little appetite, etc. Jayden.... oh my poor little Jayden! No surprise that he got the worst of it. I can't say that he was well off to begin with though. He was still pretty miserable from the ongoing congestion drama, just when we think things are starting to look up for him he takes a turn for the worst! I think the last update I have been able to post about was his pedi followup, where they thought he was sounding better and just suffering from allergies and put him on Claritin. Anyways, that did absolutely NOTHING for him. In the weeks leading up to that appt. and the following week he started acting weird with his eating. He had starting eating way more table food but then he took it out of control... like he was constantly starving to death. Seriously i have never seen such a thing. For example he would eat for breakfast a 6oz jar food, 4oz applesauce, a complete meal of what R & P were eating (as much as them), drink a 6oz bottle and then would flip out as if he had never eaten' anything at all. He would go into hysterics and this would happen with every single feeding. No joke he would just keep eating non stop if we let him. We ended up having a followup with the GI that week. They suspected that he was suffering from silent reflux, wanting to continually eat to sooth his throat. Their thinking was that all the continued runny nose and coughing was a symptom of the reflux and wanted to up his prevacid dose. Give that a week or so to kick in and see what happens, whether that helps settle things down or if he needs to see a Pulmonolgist. I can't even describe my frustration at this point, every appt. a different Dx and no two ever the same. Well that brings us to last week when the nasty bug hit, he had a well visit that turned into a sick visit. Now the pedi thinks his reflux is totally under control, no more complications from the RSV, has not a problem with his feeding frenzy behavior and swears this is all just allergies and wants us to continue giving him the Claritin and basically told us to live with it or move. Oh and he did have a little redness in his right ear, no infection but looked like it could start so he put him on Amox. for 10 days. His fever broke on Friday but he just kept getting worse and worse. He also lost his appetite too. Then last night he wouldn't sleep for more than 20-30 mins at a time, he just cried and cried all night long and his fever was back this morning (only 100.5 though). I called the pedi back and only the nurse practitioner was available to see him today so we brought him in. So now he has a full blown EI in his right ear (yup on amox.) and we got a new dx too (what a surprise!). She seems to think its a sinus infection. She switched him to Augmentin, put him on acidophilus and gave him some numbing ear drops. She wants to stop the Claritin and continue the Xopenex (which he's been back on full time since last week). I'm going to give him a week on the new treatment and see if he improves any and figure out what we do from here. This poor little guy, I just can't believe all the shit he has had to deal with!! I'm doing okay. Still awaiting the final amnio results, but I have a good feeling everything will be just fine ! I did have a very little bit of brown spotting the other day, only lasting for a couple hours. I'm sure it's nothing more than Rylie jr giving me a hard time as usual, but I'll run it by the doc on Friday. Other than that I'm looking forward to the next u/s (the 30th) and for nothing but good news!!Sadie and Cayne are doing good, glad to be out of school. I can't say I'm quite as happy as they are about it, but I'll gladly take the little extra help I get in between the fighting. Sadie did have a checkup at the GI and everything was great!! Her bloodwork came back awesome, little low on the WBC but that was expected due to her meds. Other than some occasional joint aches and pains she's been symptom free from her Crohn's for the first time and it is going on just about a year now!! I think thats about the jist of everything for now, I'm gonna try and get some sleep while I can. I'm hoping things start settling down soon I miss you guys like crazy!!! |

Wow! Poor Rylie and Peyton! And Jayden-HMMM poor sweet thing! Maybe a different allergy med-claritin did nothing for Jake but Zyrtec was great for him. I really hope they figure out something to help your little guy

Oh, Donna! You must be so EXHAUSTED! We miss you, and hope that your little folks start to get well soon. I'm curious to see how Jayden does with the change in meds. Noah had some sort of daycare funk that turned into a sinus infection and we tried two different antibiotics to get rid of it. Over a month later, he's still sick and has allergies. I dunno...

Those poor babies..and little Jayden is just breaking my heart. I do not have personal experience, but my neighbors say Zyrtec is much better then the Claritin. Maybe that would help...I wish we were all neighbors so we could help ya. |
