So today was my day to do 7.5 miles. The past few weeks it's been harder to do these long runs due to the heat. I have slowed down some and I think I will have to slow down a little more. I really don't like running a pace of 11-12 min/mile. I feel it's too slow, but if I don't I won't last in the heat.
I felt really good for the first 5 miles or so. After that it was a struggle to continue. I did about 7.75 miles in 1:30. Not great, but not too bad. I am over half way to the 13.1 miles that I will run in October.
I keep reminding myself that training in this heat will prove to be an advantage when it cools off. Running in 60 degrees or less is ideal and will be a joy. It will also be easier.
My presistance will pay off. I will not let this heat beat me!!
In running alone, I have burned nearly 1400 calories this week!!
