Do any of you scrappers stamp? I have been scrapping for over 6 years, and have not gotten into it! I know. Crazy isn't it?
I would like to start. I really want to have a letter set. They are all so expensive that I don't want to buy them and not like them. Are there any in particular that any of you would suggest trying? My SIL says that I should only use Stampin' Up stuff. But, if I could get something at a local Michaels or scrappin' store, I would prefer to do that. Any thoughts???? I would really like just a black and brown ink pad and a set of upper case letters for now to start with. I really liked the the Stampin' Up set has the ink that flips over and stores upside down already with the label on top. Can you guys help with what I should buy????? |

I LOVE STAMPIN UP. They are by far the best stamps in the world. LOVE EM. They are the best inkpads and stamps.
Good inkpads you can get at Mikes are Colorbox, Versamark,or Stazon(permanent for using on plastic or metal) As far as stamps...Hero Arts makes nice ones, they are at Mikes. Inkadinkadoo are also nice(inkadoo makes clear stamps which are nice for lettering. You can then see through the to help position them better) I dont like rubber stampede stamps....they are too flimsy and I cant seem to get a good impression.... I got started stamping with a Stampin Up Party, I know have about 20 of there stamp sets, 10+ ink pads, and the roller stamper with 5-7 wheels. Black and brown are good colors to start with, also think about white. It is great for colored papers. Plus you can get the colorbox petal points which have multiple colors, you can pull the petals off so you can use one color at time or as a rainbow pad. |

HUH? Ok. Now I'm even MORE confused! I have no idea what you just said. It's all German to me!
So, are you agreeing with my SIL? Should I just save the extra few bucks difference and buy Stampin' Up? If so, I guess I need to find out how to find who sells it?????? You said: "Black and brown are good colors to start with, also think about white. It is great for colored papers. Ok...I get that white would be a good color too. And, I agree...you're right about that. I didn't think of that one! But, what is this colorbox petal thing? Are you talking about that stamp pad thingy (technical term) that I saw at Michaels that you can take each color off, and they look like a triangle to color with? I think I saw them for $17.99. Is that what you are talking about??? |

Oooohhhh...now you're talking my FAVORITE thing to do. I originally got into rubber stamping first and then crossed over to scrapbooking a few years ago. I was a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for several years and even though I'm not with them anymore they have the best stamp sets around.
I used to put together a getting started set for people. You need a good basic black ink pad. Stampin' Up! is great as they store upside down as the lid flips so your ink pad is always juicy. I've only had to ink a pad a few times with theirs. Get a set of card stock. I would get a set of white paper and one of the sample pads of paper as you get usually 3-4 sheets of each color. The card stock to get is 8 1/2 x 11 as once you cut in half you can make two cards out of each piece of paper. Then pick a stamp set that you think you will get a lot of use out of. I'd pick a set with different themes instead of picking one just for birthdays/Xmas/etc. You will also need adhesive, which you have since you already scrapbook. This is just enough to get you started.."hooked". You can branch out and get some chalk which is nice to color in your stamped image as it gives a smokey look, embossing (very easy but look complicated). I would recommend having a party as you will get their catalog for free which has a lot of ideas. Then based upon the sales of your party you will get a free stamp set for being the hostess and then so much off based upon your sales (At least this was the way it was when I was a demonstrator). I sure wish you lived closer...you would flip at my stamp collection. I have a cabinet filled with my sets. I'll upload a pic of Hayden's birth announcement. I made them myself and embossed the feet on the front. |

Amy,
Ok, sounds good. Do they have an online store or something???? I really have NEVER seen a book or anything. I saw them on DIY Scrapbooking and that's what gave me the idea to do it. I don't know any consultants...so I would need to find one. Do you know how I would begin to do that? Also, I'm not going to be making my own cards and such...I am using it for scrapbooking.... Although, now that you say that...I might want to do that too! I have to PAY for a catalog?????? WHAT?!? What do you mean it's not free???? Are you serious? |

Ok thanks. I will look it up on google for the site. Thanks girls! Also, thanks Lisa...I will check out those flower thingys too. I saw a DIY scrappin show not too long ago where a girl used them to spread ink on her mats around her photos and journaling...It was soooooooooooo cool!
