My uterus is screaming at me to MAKE MORE BABIES!!
|
In an effort to save money, and not eat so much junk chemicals, I have started to do more cooking from scratch. Tonight I made banana bread (I don't have a loaf pan, made it more flat and broader) and it is so good! I am making chocolate chip cookies right now. I must say that I am in love with King Arthur Flour!
I bought a whole bunch of stuff that we normally don't buy to make the stuff and not buy the so called convenience foods. It tastes so much better, I just did not realize! Some stuff I have to buy, like tomato sauce/paste/et al, but I am phasing out canned most everything. It's either fresh or frozen veggies or none . I have a lot of bagged dry beans and lentils for recipes. Celery, carrots, and other stuff. I am finally going to make good use of my crockpot and get to 'real' cooking. It feels so neat! So, not only am I doing more walking and such, I am trying for healthier eating too. I am just so psyched to be finally figuring out how to cook for real, that I had to share! |

Well... after I get good and if you all don't mind a long drive
.I am just throwing stuff together for dinner and it is turning out great. Just my grandmas method of this sounds good, ooooh this too, this compliments all of that, etc. Some I plan out, but until I get the hang of it, and we get a stand alone freezer, I won't start once a month cooking or anything. I am loving the cooking . |

Queen of the arcade... but not for long =)

Good luck and have fun with it! I cook most of our stuff from scratch and love it! It's nice to know what you are eating, it tastes better, and you can make it like you want it (which is my favorite part, bring on the spice!).

Because I said so, that's why!

You can get much better food that way. But it does take a lot more time. For spaghetti sauce I still buy the cheap canned sauce and then add some more seasoning, because it is cheaper than buying tomato sauce for some odd reason.
