So, I am in the market for new knives.. they are necessary for my cooking classes. I was advised, by the Dean, to never buy any knife without holding it first. I've been reading an researching knives for the past few weeks and yesterday I decided to go "try some on."

I walked into the store knowing that I wanted a set of Shuns - and I knew I did NOT want Wusthof. I have small hands, and just "knew" that a Japanese knife would better suite me, and I knew that the German knives would just be "too much" for me.

However... the Shuns were really quite uncomfortable in my hands. The Heinckles were TOOOO heavy, and there was something I didn't like about every knife I held, until I got a Wusthof in my hand!!

I walked out of the store with a Wusthof Classic 8" Chef's Knife and a Kuhn Rikon 3.5" paring knife. I am so excited.

All of my other knives, in TOTAL, didn't cost as much as the Wusthof. But, this thing will last FOR.EH.VER!!!!

For Christmas, DH got me a stainless steel blockset made by Food Network and sold at Kohl's... I LOVE it.. it was on sale for $150, marked down from $275

I wanted to "try" the Food Network knives, but they are all sold in blocks and I could not get my hands on one.

That's an awesome sale price. =)

My Wusthof was $99.00 for just the one night. The block of Classics is $1200.00, so I have to go SLOWLY. LOL!!!!!!

My paring knife, on the other hand, was only $8.00.

Oh, you mean I should have something besides a set of steak knives?? Ahahahahahaha. Seriously, I have one small paring knife, and one a few sizes bigger...I have no idea what brand they are. They cut, my MIL gives me a few new ones every Christmas...LOL.... And yes, I use my steak knives sometimes when I'm in a hurry.

Have you all not heard of the Pampered Chef Chopper??

LOL...probably not, you should just whip that baby out to see them all faint away though! That would be fun! Our church has a Fine Dining group. 2 days a month they get together and cook a meal for their spouses. I haven't done it but it looks like alot of fun...they start around 3pm and spouses show up, dressed up, for dinner around 7pm. Sounds fun...and totally intimidating to me!

Now if they would let me come and just take pictures of the food, that I could do!.....
