Mmm.. I'm Irish too and that would be great to make! Of course, I have never made it before.. If no one has a recipe for you, there are plenty of recipes for it on the foodnetwork website and they are rated..

I don't know about the corn beef, but this is the recipe I use for cabbage and it's really tasty. It was so simple that I had my doubts, but it turned out yummy and it didn't have a ton of bacon grease in it like some of the other recipes.
Fabulous Fried Cabbage Submitted by: cook-it-up-axel Rated: 4 out of 5 by 79 members Prep Time: 5 Minutes Cook Time: 45 Minutes Ready In: 50 Minutes Yields: 6 servings "A favorite old Irish family recipe for fried cabbage and it's so easy." INGREDIENTS: 2 teaspoons butter 1 (15 ounce) can chicken broth 1 head cabbage, cored and coarsely chopped 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste DIRECTIONS: 1. Bring the butter and chicken broth to a boil in a large skillet. Reduce heat to low and add the cabbage. Cover and cook over low heat to steam the cabbage for about 45 minutes, stirring frequently, or until cabbage is tender and sweet. Season with salt and pepper and serve. The boss made corned beef twice in the last 2 weeks. But no cabbage. First - Do NOT put it in Tinfoil, even if the directions tell you too. He did that with his first batch and it was OK - but not that great. The 2nd batch he put in his small roaster and cooked it for a long time at about 200 degrees. (I think - maybe 250). You may be able to get similar results with a crockpot.
![]() I think his package of corned beef said 300 for 1 hour per pound and cooked it lower than that for longer. The 2nd batch of the same brand was quite tasty. Yep - bottom of slow cooker at 200 degrees for about 6 hours (2x as long as directions said at 300 degrees)Last edited by Koloe; 03-14-2008 at 04:14 PM. |
