If you are using it in place of oil no soda or powder is necessary only if you use it in place of egg....for replace of oil whatever the recipe calls for amt of oil it is equal applesauce....so for instance 1/2 cup of oil= 1/2 cup of applesauce. I havent used oil in baking for years....if im making something that calls for cinnamon I even use applesauce with cinnamon for an extra kick.
