Default Pork Roast

A few weeks ago I saw this giant roast for sell. Being the dork that I am I didn't look closely at it and thought it was a beef roast So I have a ton of pork roast sitting in my freezer doing nothing. I never cooked with a pork roast before. Any ideas on how to cook it?

I would think you cook it the same as beef.
Throw it in the crockpot iwth cream of mushroom soup, onions, salt & pepper.

Yep - just cook it the same as beef. You may want to make sure it's well done though (170 degrees according to the directions for a beef roast I was looking at just a few minutes ago for my own cooking needs. ) 350 for 17-20 min per pound. That is for beef - I'm assuming pork is the same.

I make pork roasts quite a bit, my Dh loves pork. I put it in the crock pot with a packet of mrs grass onion soup or one of the packets of vegetable soup by knorr and a few cups of water or pork or veggie stock. then I put cut up carrots and potatoes in and let it cook on 350 for 3-4 hrs. If you want to jazz it up a bit put in a bit of garlic.

You could also make some pork bbq with it. Put it in the crock pot with 1/2 c of water and 1/4 c of white vinegar and cook on low for 10 hours. Drain off the liquid and pull meat apart and put back in crock pot and cook on high with a bottle of bbq sauce (I use Cattlemans) until heated through. Serve on hamburger buns with coleslaw and baked beans. YUM.

I usually do this with pork butt. But, it should work for a roast too.

Well - my beef roast was almost 3 lbs - so according to the above directions should only have taken 1 hour to cook. But it was very round and thick and at 1 hour was only about 76 degrees. 30 mins later it was about 114 - so I cut it in half so that another 30 min later it was 165ish on each side. So took more like 40 min per pound. Maybe longer if I had not cut it in half.

Thanks girls! These ideas sound yummy! I'm excited to see how it turns out, might have ended up being a really good mistake
