I'm making beef stew in my crock pot today and have a question...

How long before you serve it do you add the potatoes? I don't want them mushy, but I don't want them raw either. I was thinking about an hour, but I'm not sure.

I always had to par cook my potatoes for the crock pot others wise they WON"T be done. I havn'e dont it in a bit though.

I don't think an hour is long enough in a crock pot either. Personally I microwave them between 8-15 min. depending on the size of the potatoes and then add them right before I serve it. Sorry I can't be more helpful! Stew sounds very tasty!

For the crock pot, an hour definitely won't be long enough. I'd say a couple of hours before you plan on serving it.

I'm too late too, but, when I cook them, I cook them on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 8-10 (if that gives you an idea). Worse comes to worse, you can do the microwave trick and throw them in like previously mentioned. Sounds yummy!
