Wanted to share a recipe with you guys who may be watching your calorie and/or fat intake.

Not sure if you've tried this...but, I figured a way to make the spaghetti my family loves, without all the fat and calories!

I used Classico Spaghetti sauce (it has 1/2 the calories and fat of reg. spaghetti sauce), ground turkey breast, garlic, olives and mushrooms. I used spaghetti squash in place of the spaghetti noodles.

YUM-O! You have to try it.

Edited to add: meant to tell you the nutritional info: 281 calories, 3 fat, 6 fiber!!!

I LOVE spaghetti squash. I often use it as a dessert. I bake mine with butter, cinnamon and sugar - and it's Oh-so-yummy!!!

But, I have eaten it as a main spaghetti course as well. I think it's the best veggie out there!!

It's VERY simple. There are two ways to cook it: (it looks like a large oval squash, about the side of a cantelope, but more oval in shape)
1. Either cut in in half lengthwise and de-seed. Put face down on baking sheet and cook in oven at 375 for 30-45 minutes (until outside is soft and inside can be gently pierced with a fork).
2. You can simply pierce the outside of the veggie and stick it whole in the microwave. Cook on high heat for 6 minutes per pound. (I had to cook mine for about 15 minutes the other night.) Once the outside is soft, remove from microwave and let cool 5 minutes. Cut in 1/2 lengthwise and de-seed. Scrape inside of veggie with a fork and it will shread like spaghetti noodles!

I will have to try the dessert trick! Wow! Does anyone have any other ideas for using spag. squash? My kids loved it (which is shocking!)

My absolute favorite also. Dh likes it as a side dish, but I like it w/ marinara sauce or the equivalent. I am going to have to try it as a dessert.

Matter of fact I have one at home I told DH we had to eat b4 it goes bad.
