Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

I guess I'm no help, because I just nursed when needed whether it was the middle of the night or not. I didn't worry about BM on the teeth.

It all depends. If you ask Koloe she'll tell you that she still wakes to eat in the middle of the night. Lauryn was close to 9 months old.

Personally I would just ignore the doctor. Besides being way to young to night wean, breast milk actually has properties that inhibit cavities. (Or so I read not to long ago) Just try to get his teeth brushed a couple times a day if possible. So far Liriel doesn't look like she has any cavities - though I haven't brought her to a dentist yet. But my nephew got a bunch quite young. I think part of it is genetic. And my sister filters all her drinking water, so that probably removed the fluoride from the water. But she had been brushing his teeth - or should I say letting him suck on his brush and occasionally brushing them herself. Now she brushes his teeth with his help before bed every night. What's really problematic is when parents leave bottles/sippy cups of formula, cows milk, and juice in the crib. They don't have the anti cavity properties in them and are prone to increasing cavities. As he gets older and needs a drink at night - I would limit it to BM or water. |

The vast majority of children under 1 wake up at LEAST once during the night and it has nothing to do with BF. People with infants that sleep through the night are the minority, not the norm.
