Sillz

Both James and I have horrid chest colds right now with really bad coughing fits that feel like our chests are being ripped out. I've been hanging in there for a few days but I really need some kind of cough syrup that's safe for nursing moms or I'm going to die. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've heard really good things about Delsym but have not tried it out (knock on wood I haven't needed any). Its Dextromethorphan which I believe is L1, but check first.

Koloe

Try some honey in the mean time. It is suppose to be a cough sup present. Also consider putting a bunch of Vicks Vapor Rub all over your chest. I've used the Robitusian Honey Cough syrup when I've had coughs like that. DD survived and I didn't notice any side effects for her. I only used it for night when I needed to sleep though.

None of these have I checked for safety though.

I also suggest the honey... I usually have a cup of tea with honey and lemon in it and it works wonders. Plus Delsym is fine...I give it to kate for her cough so it is fine for nursing. Plain ole robitussin is fine as well....
