"Yo Mama!"
|
Clarysa is a champ . . . except she always falls asleep with in 10 minutes, I let her suck for another 10 minutes and then take her off. She then wants to eat again 10-20 minutes later for another 10-20 minutes. I need suggestions. We are currently nursing on one side at a time but I was thinking about nursing for 5-10 min, burping, changing sides, 5-10 min, burp, change sides, etc. hoping that will keep her awake and my boobs wont hurt as bad in between feedings.

Yes - changing the baby, burping, ect. between sides is good.
FYI - jaundice babies tend to be VERY tired. And it can be hard to keep them awake long enough to get them to eat. Things to keep baby awake: Strip them down to the diaper - keep them cool while nursing tickle or rub palms of hands / soles of feet. change diaper between sides Burp between sides rub finger along check - this will often get them to start suckling. I ended up resorting to putting a cold can of pop (from the fridge) against Liriel to keep her awake long enough to nurse. You do want to nurse for at least 10 min on a side if possible. I would suggest 10 - 15 min if possible. |
