Working Hard Keeping the Hussy's In Line

For those who have pumped or limited nursing, did your supply drop at all when you dropped some pumpings?
I've cut back on my pumpings. I had been pumping 5 times a day, and as of this week, I've only been pumping 3 times a day. I was thinking of stopping all together, but wasn't sure if I wanted to completely stop or do two pumpings a day or not. At pumping 5 times a day, I was making 8-10 oz a day. I think yesterday and Monday I made 7-8 oz. What are your thoughts on that? I'm trying to become more flexible at work to open up some time. I figure if I can do at least one bottle a day, it would be worth it. I will be doing some traveling for business in April and will be flying to Nashville for 3 days and would like to not have to cart my pump with me. If I can hand express those few days and just dump my milk (for ease of everything), I will. Is this selfish of me? I'm just TIRED girls. That sounds horrible to say, but, I'm just plain TIRED. |

It's official, I'm a post whore!!

I don't think it's selfish of you.. What works for one person doesn't always work for another.. He's getting older now and you've done great getting him what you can for this long with a full time job... Not many can say that.. So actually, you should be proud

I can understand being tired of pumping.
It is a PITA. If you drop a pumping session, you supply will probably drop a bit. Personally - if you only have 1 bottle of EBM per day - I wouldn't be sending it to DC, I would be giving to him at home where you know he will get ALL of it. I know my DC had a tendency to waste the milk - which just pained me after all the work I went through to get it. I assume my supply for nursing has dropped since she doesn't nurse as often, but I'm nursing, so I don't know how much she is getting. Have you tried seeing if he will nurse at home at all? Would be nice if he would. Then you could skip the pumping and nurse while he was with you and supplement with formula when he was at DC. Oh to have a dream... |

It's been great! I have enough stash to last one more week! I can't believe she's almost a year. When I started dropping pumping sessions my supply did decrease a little. That is to be expected. Will Austin still not nurse in the evenings? |

I haven't even attempted to nurse again. The last time I nursed him, he was about 3 months old. To be honest, I'm almost afraid. How sad is that?
I definitely need to try that though. I will try it out tonight and let you girls know how it goes. |
