"Yo Mama!"

ok, so I didn't do this with Cayten so I have millions of questions.
weird question, when you nurse, is it normal for your nipple to be squished after she has nursed or could that be a Latch issue? It doesn't hurt just is squished. My milk is coming in, it is starting to hurt, should I or can I pump some to let it down or wait for her to be ready to eat? |

It's official, I'm a post whore!!

It all depends on your nipples... I know in the beginning Brody tried to suck like it was a straw so mine looked my like a pencil eraser when he was done with them! You can pump for let down but sometimes it's just better for them to get the hang of it on their own because sometimes it can be too much all at once for them which causes them to be uncomforatable and causes latch issues... atleast that was my case with Brody...

One thing to remember when you are looking at your nipples after she nurses is, it should NOT look like a lipstick, with a point on one side. My was always was squashed flat like Angie was saying, like a pencil eraser. But both sides were flat not pointed. (make sense
)Also, it is up to you about pumping. Remember if you pump during these early days your body will think you need that much milk and you will continue to be engorged. But you will also have a good store saved up. I personnally would recommend that you wait a couple of weeks to pump and store. But pumping to get some relief is different. ASK AWAY. I wish I would have had DDB when Gage was born b/c I only lasted 4 months b/c I didn't know what Gage was saying to me........I wish I would have known. |

My breasts feel extremely full and uncomfortable. What is happening and what can I do about it?
http://www.llli.org/FAQ/engorgement.html You nipple will get elongated when the baby is nursing, but should "snap" back right away after they release the latch. A funny looking nipple may be a sign of poor latch. |
