Ok, I've really cut back on my pumping now that Austin is over a year old. He still nurses a lot when I'm at home, but I pretty much just pump once or twice a day during the week when I'm at work. If I have enough, I usually send about 6 oz to DC with him, some days I just send regular milk. He likes it too and has done well with it. Usually when I pumped at work, it was during my planning time. Well, we just started a new semester, and they have another teacher using my computer lab during my planning. So now I will have to go to the car (which is a pain) and pump or wait and try to cram it in during my 25 min. lunch. Then I pump after school before going home. Honestly I've gotten tired of pumping and have thought about stopping it all together, or just pumping one time a day after school. My goal at one time was to keep pumping through out the rest of this school year until June, then I'll stop all together. I never pump when I'm at home now. So, what do you think? Would you just pump once a day for the rest of the school year as long as he's still nursing or stop all together?
Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
As long as he is nursing at home then I would think pumping once after school would be enough. During my 12 hour days, I went to pumping just once at work and Lauryn still nursed for a while after that. I think Rebecca stopped pumping at work and still nurses at night????
I guess it all depends on what your personal goal is :) I plan on stopping when Brody is a year old, so if I were in your shoes, I'd probably just stop all together... pumping can be a pain!
I stopped pumping at 18 months because Liriel wasn't drinking the BM at daycare anymore. I had already cut down to about 2 pumping sessions a day by then. Though I think that's because they kept putting it in a bottle and she never was big on bottles. And yes - she is still nursing at 2 yrs 5 months. She nurses at night when she goes to bed, during the night (though some times I cut her off when she wants to do an all nighter) and in the morning when she wakes up. When I have her during the day she likes to nurse then too or when she's not feeling good. But she doesn't get any BM at DC or when I'm not there. So I haven't pumped in almost a year. And she would be greatly distressed if I cut her off right now.
I know Lisa stopped pumping and I believe is still nursing too.

YEPPERS I AM. I stopped pumping at 15 months and i didnt notice a drop at all in my supply. Kate nurses before bed, in the am and sometimes 1-2 times in the middle of the night...she seems content with the amt of milk she is getting.
Thanks ladies. Your opinion means a lot. I may just cut it to once a day (at least for the remainder of the school year. He'd be 18 months) in the afternoon before I come home. Austin does still nurse a lot, so I don't think it will effect my supply that much. He always nurses when we first come home in the afternoon. He would pitch a fit if we didn't. Actually he cries and whines until I can sit down for him to nurse. He will then nurse again at bedtime. He nurses to sleep. He usually nurses one or two times (sometimes more) during the night, and then we nurse again in the mornings when he wakes up. On the weekend, he'll nurse a couple of times during the day as well. So I know he's still getting plenty of mommy's milk. That's why I don't mind sending cow's milk to DC if I haven't pumped enough the day before. Can you mix cow's milk and BM? I've thought about it, but have never done it. I usually send one or the other.

It's only been a few months that I've been able to get away with not nursing Liriel ASAP when getting home from work. And even now she wants to, but then she takes a nap and stays up till way late - so I discourage it since she stopped napping at DC.
You can mix the 2 milks - but I guess I wouldn't. If you cut down on pumping, you will start getting less milk to send to DC. In which case I would just mix a couple days milk together an send it as 1 bottle. And cows milk on the other days. Or you could freeze what you are pumping for times when you are not at home, she he gets some EBM when he would normally nurse. But what ever you want to do there. I just threw out a bunch of EBM the other day because it was getting too old. I should have been feeding it to her a long time ago. LOL But she was never that keen on it. It's hard to throw it away, even when you know it's probably not good any longer.
