Not enough fat in your milk
With my first daughter I started with straight breastfeeding, after 6 weeks they began to worry because she wasnt gaining enough weight (she was born 6.1 and wasnt much over that). They wanted me to keep breastfeeding so they tested my milk and it came back that there wasnt enough fat in it. So I ended up doing enriched formula, instead of using just water for the bottle I used 3/4 my breast milk and 1/4 water. This way she kept getting the nutrients and was getting the other things she needed. I did that until my milk wouldnt come anymore (around 7 months).
Now my midwife for this pregnancy says each milk production is different so im being told to try breastfeeding again, which im more then happy to do. Im just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and did it change by the next child? I dont anyone else whos had this issue so its a little hard to feel confident in myself. I want to be a breastfeeding mommy but I dont my child to suffer.

I've never experienced that. My thought is to try and bf the new baby and see what happens. You never know unless you try.
Did you pump for 7 months?

Yes after we moved to formula I pumped so she could keep getting the breast milk in some way. Im hoping if I do have to do the same thing again I can keep pumping for longer.

I have never had that issue but I too have read that breastfeeding each child is different. I would definitely try again. Remember that there is a difference in the fat content of foremilk and hindmilk. Make sure that you are nursing long enough on each side to ensure that your little one is getting that hindmilk as well. A great site to visit for BFing info is

I agree with the girls, try and see what happens. There are alot of us past and present nursing mothers here to support you when the time comes.

It does vary from p-pregnancy to pregnancy. And BM has things in it that formula doesn't. So even if you have to supplement, the babe will still get benefits.
