After being awake half the night last night, I realised that I don't think I want to do this anymore. Honestly, I don't enjoy it and the only reason I do it is out of a sense of guilt and obligation to Josh. I'm tired of having to get up 4,5,6 times a night and I think the lack of sleep is making me depressed. I hate having to take drugs to fight supply issues because nothing else works. Being a quantitative person, it also drives me crazy not knowing how much Josh is eating because it really seems to me that he's not getting enough to sleep more at night no matter how frequently I try to feed him. I feel really sad that it has come to this. :(

Because I said so, that's why!

The sleepless nights are a PITA.
But giving formula vs nursing isn't neccesarily going to solve that problem. Do you co-sleep at all? That can help immensely. You can at least drift off to sleep while nursing. Then if you wake up, but him back in his own bed. I think I would have been committed if I hadn't figured out how to nurse laying down. Where as with formula - you have to get up and make a bottle. Not to mention washing the bottle(s) and any thing else you used the next day.It can be very frustating. Lack of sleep is not fun and makes everything else harder to deal with. Pretty soon you can try introducing solds and see if that helps him sleep for longer streaches at night. Is Dad around at night to help at all? Can he get him back to sleep without nursing at all? |

I got the best Christmas present this year!

I wish I had some advice. The sleepless nights are the one thing I am NOT looking forward to. But for health reasons and money reasons I will nurse as long as I can.
It truly is a personal decision. No matter when you quit it will be a difficult decision. ![]() |

Working Hard Keeping the Hussy's In Line

I completely agree with the girls.
I fought with the idea of quitting just because it was easier. Especially with all the supply issues I've had. I still only make 9-10 oz a day and am only exclusively pumping, but, if I can provide 1 - 1 1/2 bottles of milk a day for Austin, then, it's one less that I have to use of formula. It's such great pleasure to know that I can make milk and have my little man thrive on that. BFing is not for everyone. Don't let anyone make you feel horrible about whichever decision you choose (I have people look at me like I'm crazy for pumping for my little guy). You have to do what's right for YOU and your situation. ![]() |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

I have so been there! It's very difficult to go through night after night like that. If you decide to quit don't beat yourself up over it. You've given him 4 months of BF and that's better than nothing at all.
