I'm "in training"! This week kicks off my 16 week training program for my 1st half marathon. I can't believe I am choosing to run 13.1 miles! If all goes well, I will do 2 halfs before the end of the year. Heck, I might even do a 3rd in Feb!
I am really excited about this new love in my life! Who knew that at 31 I would be starting an adventure like this. I love the quite time I get. I have stopped running with my mp3, so it's just me and nature. Of course some of nature scares the crap out of me. Saturday morning I was in the middle of a 6 mile run when I ran up to a snake. While I was doing my "oh no a snake" dance I realized it was dead. I checked my shorts to make sure I didn't pee and went on my way.

happy running to me

Holy cow!! Father's day morning I got up early and set out for my long run. I had mapped out my course and was set for 9 miles.
The first 5.5 miles wasn't so bad. After that the sun was high and I hit the wall. To finish I had to run/walk. I was a little disappointed that I walked, but the heat was getting to me.

I am proud that I have made it this far. Monday starts my 16 week training program for my first half marathon. This is the last week I can sneak in some junk food and eat the crap that I crave so bad.:giggle:

Here's to me and my progress!:cheer:

Another long run

So today was my day to do 7.5 miles. The past few weeks it's been harder to do these long runs due to the heat. I have slowed down some and I think I will have to slow down a little more. I really don't like running a pace of 11-12 min/mile. I feel it's too slow, but if I don't I won't last in the heat.
I felt really good for the first 5 miles or so. After that it was a struggle to continue. I did about 7.75 miles in 1:30. Not great, but not too bad. I am over half way to the 13.1 miles that I will run in October.
I keep reminding myself that training in this heat will prove to be an advantage when it cools off. Running in 60 degrees or less is ideal and will be a joy. It will also be easier.

My presistance will pay off. I will not let this heat beat me!!
In running alone, I have burned nearly 1400 calories this week!!:yay:

I am so freaking happy with myself! Today was a group run with the running club. Everyone was going to run 3-4 miles except for 2 people. They were sheduled to do 6 miles for their training. Some how I feel in behind them and was at a comfortable pace. When it came time to head back, I felt too good. I decided to see if I could hang. I totally did it!! I ran 6 miles with no breaks at an awesome 10:18 pace.
I know that I will have no problem doing the 13.1 miles in October.:yay:

I burned 732 calories.:giggle:

It took 27:25 mintues to do the first 2.5 miles. I took 2 walking breaks.

I feel great! I don't feel like I am pushing myself too much. I am going to try to do it again tomorrow before everything gets crazy.

This is what has been my moto since I started running.
Saturday I did my first "long" run, 5 miles. It took me 50 minutes. I did take several walking breaks as I expected I would have to. I picked a course that has some hard inclines. I know that it's hard now, but I will be better prepared for my HM if I don't take the easier roads.

So here's to me on my first long run. :cheer:

Everything went very well! Baby looked fantastic and was actually measuring a day ahead (I think thats a first!) at 10w5d. The CRL was 38.8mm (1.5 inches) and little  beating away at 164bpm. Baby was having a good ol' time in there waving arms and kicking feet like crazy, it was awesome! Unfortunately the SCH is still there, she couldn't say for sure if it was smaller (or larger) without the last report but it is still small (and not affecting baby at all). She even spent some time peeking between the legs...... obviously it is *way* too early but we did see a little dot and she's taking a guess (purely a guess) at a little........ girl!! I'm so damn excited  , I hope she is right!!!

Alright on to the good stuff...

Had my prenatal appt yesterday afternoon with the midwife that delivered Peyton. She was great and remembered his delivery like it was just last week, I really like her. Bp was good and I've gained 3 1/2lbs (thought it was only 2.5 but it wasn't). She wouldn't do a pap right now due to the continued spotting episodes and said we could wait until that is resolved first. She did schedule an u/s for next week just to make sure the SCH hasn't gotten any larger, I think it is for Thursday morning but she wrote down Wednesday with Thursday's date so I'm gonna have to call to make sure. She wants me on pelvic rest and light duties around the house (nothing over 15lbs - yeah I see that happening!) until we know for sure whats going on. She wasn't going to check for the h/b but once we told her we've heard it at home she went ahead and checked, found it right away and said she was really happy with how strong it was (and fast.. been running around 170-174 at home). She referred us to the Peri again for followups and we opted for the NT scan this time. So we should be hearing from them to schedule that in a few days.
