"Yo Mama!"
|
Well, as you have all guessed, Clarysa is here and we are home. She was born at 10:00 AM on 2/23/2008. I went in and they checked me, I was at 3.5 and the nurse pretty much "knew" I was going home. It took the nurses (3 of them) about 20-30 minutes just to find and keep her hb on the monitors. By the time they got her all figured out, my contractions were about 1 1/2 -2 min apart. The nurse came back to check me about an hour later and I was at a 4. I stayed there for about 4 hours. They decided to break my water at 6:30 and thought it would move things along. At 8:00 I was still at a 4. Around 8:30 they dosed me up on Pitocin and she came quickly there after. It really wasn't too bad. I don't remember feeling like I did this time. The pressure was so intense. (BTW, I did have an epi). She is BEAUTIFUL.
She is doing AWSOME on bfing, I however, am not. It HURTS. I have an inverted nipple on one side and that is killing me. She has a WONDERFUL latch but I can't stand the pain. Any suggestions? The Lactation consultant said it would go away in 2-3 days and ease up but I dread feeding her. I already want to give her a bottle. UGH. Last night I was feeding her and she didn't latch very well and I didn't notice until it was too late and on the opposite side of the inverted nipple, I now have a blood blister so that side is killing me too. I want more than anything to keep this up but the pain makes me shake sometimes. I want to cry. Other than that, there are some pics at www.chinenfam.blogspot.com I posted them there and my internet is TOO slow to post them again. Last edited by Callie; 02-24-2008 at 09:07 PM. |

![]() Congratulations!!! She is beautiful!!!!I wish I had some advice on the inverted nipple. I had the opposite problem, my nips are huge and poor Addie's mouth could barely fit around them. I wanted to give up so many times, I was in tears. Cold packs and rest will help. I know it's hard, but try to stick it out. It took several weeks for us to get it right. |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

She's gorgeous! Congrats!! I had the inverted nipples and I used the nipple shield that draws them out. I used it before Thomas was born and my nipples were ready once he was born and never went back in. I think you may want to try wearing one on that side when you aren't nursing to coax it out.

Congratulations! I'm glad you are both doing well. Check out the links about inverted nipples in the Breastfeeding forum - it's stuck at the top of the page.
![]() Do you have any lanolin? There are a couple different types out there. Make sure you put it on right after you nurse. It helps. Also let your nipples air dry as much as possible. You can try expressing some milk - though it's probably still just colostrum - and rubbing that on them too and then air drying. It took awhile for the pain to end for me. I remember the toe curling pain. It does get better. |
