Hey ladies.. This is the story I had posted on myspace.. :)
Hey guys... I have been dying to get upstairs to tell you guys more about how great Brody is.. but this c-section recovery stuff sucks lol... But here is just a little bit about what happened on October 18th when little Brody Cole was born.. :)
We went to the hospital to be induced at 7am.. After getting me all hooked up to everything, the doctor came in an broke my water at 8:20 and started the potocin.. And let me tell you, the whole water breaking thing is an experience.. feels like you are just peeing and peeing haha.. (i know, tmi) anyway... then the contractions started and at about 11:30 I asked for something to help me along til I wanted the epidural.. Well, the nurse gave me this stuff called Nubane... I've never heard of it and it really didn't help with the pain BUT, I really didn't care that I was having pain either.. haha it was awesome.. Then Around 2:30, and 5 cm dialated, I finally asked for the epidural.. which was an experience as well... The whole needle in the back thing was fine... but it was my body's reaction to the epidural that sucked.. About 5 minutes afterwards, I started to feel very sick, threw up multiple times and my blood pressure dropped A LOT.. and I heard little Brody's heart beat drop a lot and it scared me.. the nurse turned me on my side and that woke the little guy up and eventually my BP went back up.. but I definitely wasn't expecting that... Around 8:00, I had been only 6-7cm dialated for the past 4 hours.. so I got a call from my doc saying that we should probably do a c-section, which i was totally fine with at that point because my epidural had worn off and I had been feeling EVERY contraction for the past two hours and there was no way I was going to be able to push with that kind of pain.. oh, did I mention it was back labor? Yeah, it sucked. So since the epi wasn't working, they pulled it out and attempted to do a spinal tap.. Well, apparantley they epi leaked and there was fluid and the doc tried 20-30 times (yes, 20-30 needles in my back) to get the spinal tap to work and it just wouldn't... I was all hunched over in the OR, having back labor and contractions for 30 minutes while this yahoo tried to get the spinal to work.. it was miserable.. finally my doctor came in and said that Brody had been off the monitors for too long and they were just going to have to put me under and take him.. yes, I was sad that I wasn't going to be able to experience it, but at that point I just wanted him OUT lol... poor Mark was told they would come get him in 15 minutes and 30 minutes went by and he started to freak out a little bit lol.. but the doc came and explained everything to him, so he just waited in the nursery with all of our family and friends... When I woke up, the nurses were telling me I had a beautiful 8lb 7oz baby boy and all I could do was cry and moan because of the pain.. I asked the doc WHY I was in so much pain and he said he had JUST given me a shot of morphine.. well, it hadn't kicked in yet and I felt EVERYTHING.. ARGH it hurt.. the nurses were trying to get the morphine drip hooked up and it took forever and I was in agony for 30 minutes.. finally everything started to smooth out and they let Mark back to see me... He was so proud and he had pictures he was showing me.. I couldn't believe how beautiful my son was.. but I told Mark he wasn't going to ever touch me with a 10 foot pole again LOL.. well, then they wheeled me into the nursery to meet Brody for the first time and all I could do was cry.. he is amazing and right away I told Mark he could in fact touch me again and that we would definitely have more.. Even with everything I have been through, I can't even begin to tell you how worth it all was... I love my little man.. I would do it all over a million times to see his little face :)
I am glad I finally got to hear the nitty gritty. Mam-o didn't say they had to put you under. I am sorry you didn't get to experiece. I had the same reaction () when we had Gage. I couldn't stop crying. . He is gorgeous.
You should post your link to your snapfish photoalbum so all of these pictures crazy people can see how cute Brody is.
Yeah, it was crazy! I hope the spinal tap works when I have my next baby.. because I want to be able to experience it next time! And I tell ya, I still have nerve damage from all of those tries.. my butt and lower back were REALLY numb for the first few weeks... now they are just kind of numb and hurt when I sit down too long.. sheesh.. birth is an experience lol :) I will post pictures as soon as I have 25 posts.. right now I only have 17
