We tried for a long time to get pregnant with Caleb (at least it seemed long.) It took us a little over 3 years to finally get pregnant and we are so thankful to have him!
I was induced 8/26 by choice

! My OB was going out of town a few days after that, along with the anesthesia providers that provided service to the OB department. Of course the had people covering them but I was uncomfortable with that so chose the induction. I got to the hospital at 7am and was taken to a room to be put on the monitor, get an IV started, paperwork, etc. My friend was my labor nurse and I'm sure that was the reason I had such a great experience..she was absolutely wonderful! They started the Pitocin at around 8am and my OB came in a broke my water at 9am, I was 75% effaced and 4cm at that point. Somewhere around 10am my contractions started becoming pretty uncomfortable so I asked for an epidural. My Labor nurse gave me some Demerol/Phenergan while giving me a fluid bolus and called anesthesia. The put the epidural in at about 10:30am and it was wonderful. It took all of 5min to get in and started working almost immeadiately. My husband and I read People magazine for the next two hours (Hey, can't be too picky...I told him to go raid the surgery department (where I work normally) for all their magazines and that is what he came back with!) After that I took a nap. About 2pm they checked me and I was completely dialated and ready to push as soon as I started feeling the urge. I ended up pushing from about 2:30pm until Caleb was born at 3:16pm. He was a big boy 9lbs 5oz...much bigger than I expected. My dd was only 7lbs 10oz. It was such a wonderful experience...I can't wait to do it again!!
