Well, most of you know the craziness of us supposedly going for an induction last Thursday, but as DH put's it, like Jesus, there was no room in the Inn. Labor and Delivery was slammed packed with no room for Austin on Thursday. So we had to be at the hospital on Friday at 5:30 am. When we arrived we got settled and they started my pitocin at 6:30 am. I did fine, could definitely feel the contractions starting, but nothing bad. My doctor came in at 8:00 and I was still only dialated to 1 cm, but completely effaced. So he went ahead and broke my water. The contractions after that started becoming more intense and by 10:30 am, I had to have the epidural. I was having back labor and was about to die. So they came in and gave me that, which was great. So the rest of the time I didn't feel a thing. At 11:30 am, my doctor came back to check on me, and I was dialated to 5 cm. at that time. The nurse was so excited, she couldn't believe I'd already dialated that much, that quickly, especially being my 1st. Anyway, as the day went on, I began feeling light pressure of the contractions and knew they were becoming more intense, but needless to say, I didn't feel the pain. My doctor came back at 1:30 and said I was completely dialated and we would begin pushing. So they got everything set up in my room and at 1:50 I started pushing. Man, I never could have imagined what a work out that would be. Anyway, we progressed along really well. My doc. did have to do a small episotomy, but my husband said he really had to for Austin to get through without me ripping really bad. After he did that, we pushed for a last time and Austin was born at 2:48 pm. He weighed 7 lbs 14oz and is 21 inches long. So here is my little boy.....
