Alexis has finally arrived. I thought I would be pregnant forever

She was due Feb 14th but came 5 days early which was fine by me.

My contractions started Feb 9th at 1am. Earlier in the week I had been having contractions but nothing consistent and when they were, they would stop after about an hour or two. They were about 10 min apart and not bad at all but I couldnt get back to sleep. At 7am I got Liam up and ready for daycare but the contractions were stronger and I didn't think it was a good idea to drive so DH took him in. I tried to get some more sleep but everytime I would drift off another contraction would come and wake me up. I had a regular check up that day so I was waiting it out till I had my appt so she could check me and see what was going on. I knew I was in labor at that point since they were very consistent and getting stronget but still wanted to see what she said. DH drove me to my appt at 2:15 pm and by then my contractions were still only about 8-9 min apart. She asked why I didn't go to the hospital and I said I didn't want to be sent home so she checked me. I was 4-5 cm and she said to get to the hospital they wouldnt send me home. We went home to get our things and I sat in the tub for a bit and my best friend came over. By then the contractions were 4-5 min apart and she said we are leaving now. I really didn't want to but she and DH convinced me to get out and get going.

We arrived at the hospital at 4:40 and they get me to a room and undressed and they hooked me up to the monitors for 20 min. The MW checked me and I was 6cm and she told me I could get in the tub if I would like. BF and DH filled it up but I just sat on the toilet because every time I would move the contractions would be more intense and it felt better to just stay where I was at. I started to pee and after I just had to push. My water broke while I was on sitting on the toilet so they called the nurses in to let them know my water broke and I tried to make my way from the bathroom to the bed. I got in the hallway and had to start pushing again. The 2 nurses finally came in and told me to stop I needed to get on the bed. I couldnt stop pushing adn they looked at DH and told him to pick me up. Finally I was able to move and got on the bed. By the time I made it on the bed, the head was already showing and the MW finally got there when I had to push again. Literally 3 more pushes and she was out. SHe came at 5:50 pm. She was nice and healthy weighing in at 7lb 14ounces.

We are having some BF issues and the LC suggested I see an oral motor specialist so we are working on some exercises to strengthen some muscles and hopefully get her to the point where she can stay latched on. For now I have to pump and feed with a bottle but hopefully with these exercises she will be able to pop on in no time. Out of the 4 areas they check she needs to work on 3 of them. Her jaw is very weak and her cheeks have to be stretched out. She sucks with the tip of her tongue instead of the back so we are working on that as well.

Adorable! That is some might dark hair and lots of it! Must take after her daddy! Congratulations on the new addition!

There is a reason midwives (out of the hospital) use birthing chairs - sounds like that is what your body really wanted and needed. So your DH didn't pick you up and place you on the bed?

So they had a "birthing chair" yet you can't "birth" on it. Seriously makes one wonder.
