I got the best Christmas present this year!
|
So Here it is.
Last night DH and I were talking and I told him I think I would like to try for a girl. He said "yeah" I said yeah. So He said "you better get reading on your books" I know he would be more than dissappointed if we were to have a 3rd boy. Though in the end it really wouldn't matter. So what do we do?? You know. Enjoy the 2 we have or go for it?? I really want a daughter, but am I so used to boys that a daughter would feel out of place. I guess I am jsut apprehensive. B/c with both PG. we thought we were having a girl and each time it was like being slammed in the chest with a MACK truck. NOt that we don't love our boys but you know. So is there any knew info out there on supplements plus the use of the Shettles method. I no longer have VIP for FF so I can't go see what is new in the timing section. Of course this is stil going to be about a year maybe less until we try but I want to know if I have to have supplements good and in my system before we try ALL OF THAT> OR ARe we screwing with fate trying to sway our odds for a girl. Or if we aren't suppose to have a girl then we won't have a girl. NO MATTER WHAT 3 is it for us, so we either try or don't. Any help or thougth is greatly appreciated. Tricia |

Aw Tricia you know my answer - go for it!
I can give you all the info on supplements and methods to TTC a girl, although as you can see we decided to give them up. I saw too many posts on the Gender Selection board on FF from women who followed the "girl plan" faithfully, took months and months and months to get a BFP, then had the big u/s and found out it was another boy. Taking all the supplements and following any cutoffs means you're decreasing your chances for a pregnancy every cycle, so it could take A LONG TIME and there are still no guarantees. We just didn't think it was worth it. I read somewhere that doing all that sways the odds like from 50% to 52%, so not big enough for us. We're just going to take our chances - if we're meant to have a girl (which we think we are!) then we will. And if #3 is another boy, DH agreed we can try one more time if we can afford it. And if we end up with 4 boys, that's it lol. We talked and decided that we want 3 children, and that's most important, regardless of sex. Just remind yourself that once that little boy is here, you'll never regret trying for a girl - because otherwise you wouldn't have that little blue bundle! Here are the basics that people follow to get a girl: - Vitex (take anywhere from 400mg to 1200mg from AF to O, usually you want to start out with a small dose and see how your body reacts, if it screws around with your O date or anything, then up the dosage each cycle until you're at 800 or 1200mg) - Lydia Pynkham (sp?) - you could take this instead of vitex, but not together, also AF to O. Just follow the dosage on the bottle. - Calcium/Magnesium - this is one of the most important things you can take when trying for a girl. Usually it's 1000mg Calcium/400 or 500mg Magnesium in a combined capsule. You can take this throughout the whole cycle, or just AF to O if you prefer. - Cranberry - your dose will depend on your body, the goal with this is to take any EWCM/wet CM you usually get around O and turn it creamy. Start with a low dose (1,000 or 2,000mg per day) and if you still get EWCM/wet CM then up the dose the next cyle. Keep doing this until you have creamy CM only. Some women have to take as much as 10,000 to 20,000mg per day to get rid of fertile CM. - Vinegar douche or Replens - this is optional, most girls do just one douche or replens application (I think replens is similar to a douche but not as infection-prone) a couple days before you start your BDing, it makes your environment more acidic. - Litmus paper - you can buy this on ebay for a few bucks, you want to check your CM around O time and make sure it's acidic (it should be preferably between 4.5 and 5.0 for the best chance at a girl) - Girl diet - you can start following this months before you start TTC for the best effect. It's a horrible diet, very bland and hard to follow lol. I couldn't do it for more than 2 days I'll post the diet after this post.- Cutoffs - most girls don't do cutoffs anymore because they honestly just don't seem to work, but some have success with it. If you decide to do one, you want to aim for at least a 2 to 3 day cutoff. O+12 is another option, which is abstaining from BDing until you are pretty sure you've O'd - then BDing just once 12 hours after you actually O. Of course you have to have reliable signs that you've O'd in order to try that method. - BD style - you want shallow penetration (missionary is best) and sorry but no big O for you before after or during BDing. It changes the environment and makes it more favorable for boy sperm. No preseed, no instead cups. You probably don't want to lay down afterwards with your hips up because that makes it easier for the boy sperm to get up there. Some girls "jump and dump" - get up immediately and clean up; other girls lay there for 5 minutes then get up and clean up. Okay, I think that's it lol. I'll get the diet posted next. Good luck with whatever you decide! If you're going to try the supplements and/or diet, you can get started as soon as you want, 3-6 months before you TTC, so it's all in your system and you have time to experiment and see what works for you. |

GIRL you rock
I don't know what we are going to do yet. 3 children is our max. and we both want a daughter. I jsut don't know if I am meSSING with fate or not. I really wonder if it comes down to if you are suppose to have a boy then you have a boy and if you are suppose to have a girl then you have a girl. OF course we are still waiting though. NOTHING RIGHT NOW>!!!!! Tricia |

I guess my answer would be.... if a 3rd boy would horribly disappoint you, don't tempt or test fate. If you would be totally happy with a 3rd boy, go for it!!
But, go in with an open heart and an open mind.... wanting a girl, but chosing to be happy with whatever gender you are blessed with. |

Kris, I think you are right also. I know with Bailey we were dissappointed at first, but there isn't an ounce of dissappointment now. WE both couldn't imagine life without him. DOES that make sense.
That is why I am in such a dilema, I really always imagined myself with a daughter, but now with 2 sons I don't know. I really enjoy the boys and I don't know if we are meant to have another. Kris I am going to PM you. Tricia |
