Default need help with a name (obviously) lol

Well....

I have a name picked out for a boy kinda, actually id like advice....

I picked out Liam Tyge, and I like it the problem is me and my fiance are both spanish and he isn't too fond of such a "white name" as he calls it, I am very proud of my puerto rican/mexican heritage as well and also like the name miguel rafael (rafael is juans middle name also) however I feel by giving my child such a strong latin name Miguel Rafael Rodriguez would put him at a disadvantage in life because in this country wether its right or not latinos are thought of as less educated and if an employer sees that name against liam I believe they would hire the more white name givin the qualifications are the same??? If anyone has any advice or comments they will be appriciated.

As for the girl...

We have agreed on a first name (kinda) I love cahliah (kah-lee-a) not cayliah) but he says why not just the normal thalia, and also I don't know a middle name that sounds good with that?? Any suggestions??

Thanks =)

Well, I personally really like the name you have picked out for a boy, Liam. How do you pronounce the middle name?
I tend to agree with you about the potential *disadvantages* your potential *son* could incur for having such a strong Latin name like, Miguel Rafael.

As for the girl name you've picked out, Cahliah - I really like the pronounciation of it. It's uniquie, but some could have trouble pronouncing it if simply seeing the name written down (of coarse, that's just my opinion ).

Girl middle name suggestion...
Rose, Grace, Marie

... I'll have to think about more.

My cousin's DH was a little concerned about having "too hispanic" of a name, but she desperatly wanted one. He is Puerto Rican and she is not. They ended up naming their daughter Jayden.

I've never really thought about a name giving you a disadvantage in life, but I can see how it could happen.

Could you go with Michael Rafael Miguel Tyge, or Liam Rafael? I love the name Liam, but my DH wouldn't have it.

As far as Cahliah Terri had some good suggestions. Cahliah Rose is beautiful.

Sadly, you are probably right about the ethnic names being a disadvantage. Studies have shown them to be so when comparing equally qualified candidates. You could go with the Liam for the first name and a Hispanic middle name. Then he could always use an initial or no middle name on job applications if it seems prudent. But in the end, you need to pick a name both of you like. Well - at least one you like. And you never know 20-30 years from now it's possible a Hispanic name could be advantageous in applying for jobs. maybe he'll choose to work in Mexico or South America or Spain and it will really help in out?

I like your girls first name. Different, but not weird. Undoubtedly people will pronounce it wrong, but that goes with the territory of unique names.

It is sad that you have to think about disadvantages when naming your child... I like the idea of Liam Rafael or Liam Miguel... And I definitely love Cahliah Rose... very pretty... I have thought about the name Taliah if I had a girl..

Default thankkk you everyonee

Well first thank you everyone for all your responses, when I joined this group I figured nobody really answered posts but you girls are great =)

I def. Agree that it is sad that in this country there is so much racism that we have to "be careful" of what we name our children :-/ but hopefully someday that will change.

But anyway someone asked me how to pronounce tyge and its just like tiger without the err ?? Lol...a little diff. But I knew someone with that name in school and he was the most popular guy in our grade lol so anway I agree with you guys liam miguel or liam rafael would probably make both of us happy so we'll probably do that and its not like I can hide (not that I want to) our childrens background with the last name RODRIGUEZ anyway lol and I def. Will not change the last name !

And as for cahliah and the middle name I def. Love cahliah rose is beautiful, I alread have a nevaeh marie so I can't use marie anymore but I agree that would have been real cute too :)

So thanks for all your suggestions =) appriciate it!!

Just depends on the day. Some days there are hundreds of new posts. Other days (ussually on weekends) your lucky to see 3 or 4 new posts. Tends to be slow on the weekends and holidays. And some days everyone is busy with work/family and/or no one has anything new to post. Unless we start posting drivel, which can be amusing some times too.
