You are not crazy. I remember my last visit to my grandfather in the VA home and I wondered what we were accomplishing by keeping him alive in a semi-vegetative state for years before he died. Even though he is in a better place now, that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt to lose him.
That's great that he was an organ donor. Hopefully he is able to help several people with that gift.
