Everyone warned me that working for the county is no fun. They weren't kidding....
my trainings have been a joke...no one knows what to do, or what's going on. When I was just a "volunteer", I had to go through securities training. No big deal. I went through it with another girl I know. We were allowed to bring children, since we were just "volunteers" We showed up at 8:30 like we were told, and no one was there. We had to hunt someone down. The lady had an attitude like you wouldn't believe. Then she was mad because the other girls kid pooped, and she wanted to go to the bathroom to change her. We were told we would be there 4 hours. We watched a video, and then told we could leave....after 45 minutes(and 30 minutes waiting for someone to figure out what to do with us) talk about a waste of time....
Last Friday I had to go in for new hire orientation. I went in, and the lady seemed REALLY discrumpled. She finger printed us, we filled out tons of paper work, and then she took us to get a TB test. They wouldn't do a TB test, cause Monday was a holiday. The lady told us we would have to come back anyway for round 2 of training on Tues....we both had a fit. We were told that this was the only day for our training, and that we wouldn't have any more days to find child care. The main reason we took these jobs was cause we could work at home. I went through hell trying to find someone to watch the kids while i did the "4 hr" training. We got into the computer lab, and she explaned to us that the lady who did the computer training was on vacation that day, and that we would have to come back next week for the training. Now being they have more than 2 employees, you would think that someone else could do the training, or that they would have scheduled our training on a day when everyone was there.....so the lady left to try to figure out what to do with us. She left the room, and I called my suporvisor and told her what was going on. She had been asking for 2 weeks how long our training was gonna be, etc. We were told to bring a lunch, and that we would be there from 8-2:30 or 3. After 35 minutes of us sitting and doing nothing, the lady came back down pissed, cause she got a phone call from our suporvisor. They found someone to do the training, and we didn't have to go back on Tues.
They were suposed to have our cell phones ready, and our computer log ins by yesterday. She put in 3 weeks ago for them. Still nothing. Now I have ot wait another week for my phone, and then call 100 pregnant moms before 8/1. It may not seem like a lot, but I have to fill a prenatal sheet out on each one, mail them 2 different things, and call them 2 times before their due date...that's 200 phone calls, and 200 mailings by 8/1....add birthday parties, and summer break...and it's ALOT of work!!
I wish they would get their butts in gear. I know it's not my suporvisor, but i'm a pushy person, and if she would let me handle it, it would have gotten done a long time ago
